Chris Rock Hosting BET Awards 2014
The same day BET unveils the full list of nominations for the BET Awards, the host is revealed. Today (May 14th), Chris Rock was unveiled as the host of the 2014 BET Awards.
This will be the first time Rock hosts a music award show since hosting the MTV Video Music Awards in 2003. The BET Awards debuted in 2001, two years before Rock would host the MTV VMA’s for the second time in four years. According to Stephen G. Hill, President of Music Programming and Specials at BET, stated that it was a long process to get Rock as host:
We’ve been trying to make this happen for a VERY long while, and we’re ecstatic that Chris Rock will be the host of the BET Awards for the first time. Mr. Rock is a comedic genius with a rapier wit who is a keen observer of pop culture. We’re looking forward to what he is to unleash on June 29th. You will definitely want to meet us at the BET Awards.
The BET Awards will air live on BET on June 29th at 8pm EST.
